–why not do so in choir? “Music is the exaltation of the mind derived from things eternal, bursting forth into sound.”
St. Thomas Aquinas
Easter Youth Choir
Choir will sing from 10:30-11:00 AM on Easter. Children and teens join us on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:00 PM to rehearse.
Hymn of the Week: The Glory of These Forty Days
In our Gospel reading this weekend, we learn that Jesus went out into the desert for forty days to fast and pray. St. Gregory the Great’s poetry in the hymn The Glory of These Forty Days perfectly captures the essence of our readings this week by portraying how our fast is foreshadowed in the Old Testament; by Moses, Elijah, Daniel, and John the BapƟst. As we began our Lenten season this past Wednesday with ashes, we were reminded that we “are dust, and to dust [we] shall return.” With that knowledge, we fast during our forty days of Lent in the hope that one day God will “give us joy to see [his] face.”
Music is the exaltation of the mind derived from things eternal, bursting forth into sound.” St. Thomas Aquinas

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

We stand before you, Holy Spirit, Come to us, remain in us, and enlighten our hearts. Give us light and strength to know your will, To make it our own, and to live it in our lives. Guide us by your wisdom, support us by your power, Do not allow us to be misled by ignorance Or corrupted by fear or favor. Unite us to yourself in the bond of love And keep us faithful to all that is true. As we gather in your name, may we temper justice with love, so that all our discussions and reflections may be pleasing to you, and earn the reward promised to good and faithful servants. Amen.

Based on a prayer of the Vatican II Council Fathers, 1962 Taken from the YOUCAT Youth Prayer Book page 63
